Chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” echoed through the Adampur Air Base on Tuesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Indian Air Force personnel days after the success of Operation Sindoor.

PM Modi visited the Air Force Station Adampur, one of the active bases during the high-intensity counter-terror operation, and met with the brave air warriors and soldiers. A visible wave of pride and joy surged through the ranks as the Prime Minister praised their courage and professionalism.

In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister shared his admiration: “Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”

During his visit, PM Modi was also briefed by senior Indian Air Force officers on the precision operations carried out during Operation Sindoor, which was launched in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.

Air Marshal AK Bharti, Director General Air Operations, reaffirmed that the operation was targeted solely at terrorists, not the Pakistani military or civilians.

“Our fight is with the terrorists, not the Pakistan Military or civilians. We were very clear and accurate in our targeting,” he stated.

Air Marshal Bharti highlighted the success of India’s indigenous air defence capabilities, stating: “Our trained air defence operators and counter systems have proven their effectiveness. We are fully prepared to deal with any emerging threats, regardless of technological advancements.”

Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, marked a new chapter in India’s counter-terror doctrine. The tri-service strikes destroyed key terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists and significantly damaging 11 enemy air bases. The operations were carried out with calibrated restraint, minimising civilian casualties while delivering a clear message of deterrence.

In his national address following the operation, PM Modi had said: “Every terror organisation now knows what the consequences are of taking away the sindoor of our sisters and daughters. India will give a fitting reply on its terms, and we will strike decisively at every root of terrorism—even those hiding behind nuclear threats.”

He reiterated that India will not distinguish between terror groups and their state sponsors, affirming that the country’s policy is now firmly rooted in zero tolerance for terrorism.

As the visit concluded, the morale at Adampur Air Base soared, reflecting a unified spirit of patriotism, resilience, and readiness, with the men and women in uniform reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding the nation.
